Three cheers for all the single mothers! For some of us, Father’s day is a time to remind us of those wonder-women who do the job of two, all year round. So here are several ways to enjoy Father’s Day as a Single Mother!
Arrange the Weekend With Dad
If it’s a safe and normal set up for you to co-parent with your ex, plan ahead of time for your kids to spend their time at Dad’s on Father’s Day weekend. That means, a Saturday night and a Sunday morning to yourself, girl!
Spend it with good company, or have a little pamper evening and treat yourself the next morning to that thing that’s so elusive to us single mums…. ** A Lie-In **
Shop a Sale
Lots of retailers that usually market to women see a dip in sales on Father’s Day. To combat that, a lot of them put sales on, to keep heads turned towards them on Father’s Day weekend. Take advantage!
Treat yo’ self to a little something nice, at a lower price.

Take a Moment For Yourself to Remember all the Hard Work that Single Mums Do
Being a Single Mother, especially in a family setup where the Father is completely absent (for whatever reason) is tough in so many different ways. Some of them we see, some of them we don’t.
You might have seen a Single Mother physically working hard to keep her home clean, her bills paid, her children healthy and happy and fed and clothed. All by herself, without any help or financial input from a partner, and also without the general moral support or companionship of another adult in the home.
What we often don’t see is all the mental and emotional struggles of a Single Mother. A lot of times, they protect us from knowing when there’s an internal struggle of some kind going on. The true heroines of single mothers, shield their kids from as much drama or hurt or disappointment as they can. Rather than see their kids upset, they’ll take it all on themselves – shouldering the burdens of family arguments or letdowns, so nobody else has to.
So it’s worthwhile to take a moment to consider the divine beauty and nature of ‘Mothers’. Put on this earth to nurture, protect, heal and shape us all. Each and every one of us was born to a mother who literally gave us her body as our home, gave us life, and brought us into this world.
A mother’s sacrifice for her children knows no bounds, and that’s a beautiful thing to appreciate.
Say Happy Father’s Day to Another Single Mother with a Gift
If you’re looking to really spoil a Single Mother on Father’s Day, treat it like a second Mother’s Day and get her a little gift!
A hard-working single mum is never going to say no to a little treat – and a good type of gift to target is something that involves a little indulgence or pampering.
A little bundle of skincare favourites could go down a treat for a single mother who could use some me-time. This brand is a good choice thanks to its wide variety of lovely products, and its budget-friendly price tag that will make it easy to buy a bundle but not spend a lot.
Is she a bookworm? How about a book. Or maybe a pretty Journal would make a nice thoughtful gift for her.
Of course, chocolate and flower’s are always nice!
Cherish a Quiet Sunday With Your Kids as a Single Mum on Father’s Day
Sometimes Father’s Day is hard for the whole family. You might feel like you want to do something to take all your mind’s off it, but equally you might not want to be out in all the places where other families are celebrating with their Dads. So what can you do? Here are some ideas;
Have a beautiful meal together at home – Fancy a roast? Put your skills together and cook a lovely meal as a family. Simplicity can still go a long way when it comes to food – so don’t worry if you’re not usually a dab-hand in the kitchen. Nice weather? Set up in the garden for some beautiful al-fresco dining.
Go on a long walk and a talk – Pick a nice scenic route, and get outdoors to enjoy some sunshine together. Walks are a great bonding exercise because it’s a natural way to set the scene for a lengthy conversation. Let the words flow as you wander – tell her how much you appreciate her, and listen! See what’s on everyones mind.
