We all know that for a single mom Mother’s Day can be difficult. It’s sometimes not the day of appreciation, gifts and respite that we all hope for and deserve. But this year, Podcaster Ashley Flowers did something beautiful for the Single Mom community, to make their Mother’s Day that little bit brighter.

If you haven’t heard of Ashley Flowers, that’s ok. But if you have heard of her, then, hey fellow Crime Junkie! This is a safe space, we’re All Good People Here.
Ashley is a non-profit organization founder and the founder of AudioChuck productions – the Mecca for all of our favourite true crime Podcasts such as Crime Junkie, CounterClock, The Deck, Anatomy of Murder, and more.
She has long been an advocate for justice, and has consistently used the spotlight of her success to shine a light on marginalised people who’ve struggled to get their stories heard. Needless to say, she’s also a huge advocate for women, and, she’s a mother of a young daughter.
A generous Mother’s Day gesture
This week, Ashley has once again been leading by example and showing us the importance of ‘paying it forward’. In an amazing act of kindness, Ashley took to Instagram to appeal to single moms struggling to pay their bills.

And just like that, the requests started coming in. Single moms who explained that they are working extra jobs and still have worries about paying their rent, their electricity bill, car payments, and simple food bills.
Ashley selected a few people, and sent them the money they need through Venmo.
Encouraging others to donate a Single Mom’s Mother’s Day Gift
And that was just day one! At the time of writing this, Ashley is on Day 5 of donating to single moms to help pay their bills on Mother’s Day, and by now she’s encouraging other people in positions of wealth to join the cause.
It’s an amazing lesson on the importance of paying it forward, and the sense of community that women can create when we choose to help one another in times of need.
