Hinge Profile Examples for a Single Mum

Here’s why you’ll want some good Hinge profile examples if you’re a single mum. It’s arguably the best dating app for people who hate dating apps!

Famously, the brands tag line is ‘Designed to be Deleted’ meaning that it’s crated with genuine love-matches in mind.

The result is that it tends to attract more people who are actually looking for a relationship, vs serial swipers looking for quantity over quality. (We’re looking at you, tinder)

And here’s the great part – most of us break a bit of a sweat when faced with the big blank box labelled ‘bio’ – right?!

Trying to condense your entire complicated personality into 150 characters while including all your key facts and at the same time trying to be sexy, funny and interesting. Not easy.

Hinge doesn’t make you do that!

It has all the necessary questions about your life, your habits etc, and it gives you the option to hide a few elements if you’d rather not share them.

But rather than a bio, where you’d usually have to talk yourself up like a cheap car salesman, Hinge gives you ‘Prompts’. It’s a much more laidback way to put across your personality and tell people a little bit about you.

Hinge Profile Example – Kids or No Kids?

If you read my other post about Bumble Profile Examples for Single Mums, you might remember that I had a criticism of the way you were asked to declare your child preferences.

Hinge covers all options for declaring your situation with children.

While Bumble rather arrogantly made people chose between “Have kids and want more” or “Have kids and don’t want more” (what if you have kids and would like to see what the future holds before making such a decision??! Calm the f* down, Bumble) – Hinge is a little less militant with its options.

It lets you decide if you want to say you want more kids, or if you don’t and if you’re simply open to the idea or you’d rather not say right now. All bases covered!

Hinge Goes Hard with Media

This app seemingly has a goal of getting you to show multiple angles of yourself, perhaps in an attempt to make it as much of a lifelike meeting as you could possibly get via online dating.

They ask for at least 6 pictures – videos encouraged too. They also give you the option of adding an audio clip so that your future beloved can be wooed by the sultry tones of your voice (or get the shock of their life and swipe left if you sound like Janice from Friends – eek.)

When choosing photos for your profile remember the golden rules – if you chose to share a photo that includes your kids make sure school uniform logos are hidden, and consider hiding their faces too.

Hinge Profile Example Prompts That Work Well for Single Mums

You get a maximum of three written prompts to pin on your Hinge profile.

To use your space wisely, I’d suggest using one prompt to say something personal about yourself, one to make a reference to your kids (if it’s important to you that your matches are definitely aware you’re a single parent), and one that describes what kind of partner you’re looking for.

Of all the prompts available on the app, here are my top picks, and some examples of what to write in them if you’re stuck for ideas!

Which is more important to you… travelling abroad, or spending time with Family?

Biggest risk I’ve taken… moving 100 miles away from my hometown with my Son!

I take pride in… being the best mum I can be to my 2 beautiful kids.

I’ll introduce you to my family if… you’d be up for one of our pizza and Disney nights!

I’m a regular at… the ice rink. My kid competes!

The hallmark of a good relationship is… giving as much as you take, and ultimately being best friends.

These are great answers because they aren’t too serious, yet they do the job of subtly conveying your family life as an important factor.

What not to write

Something that’s non-negotiable for me is… putting you over my kids
(although this may be 100% true, it doesn’t really need to be said. It can sound quite stand offish and any decent and sane guy will understand that you need to put your kids first, without you being quite so blunt!)

An overshare… I pooped myself when I gave birth
(I mean, if you’re feeling brave it could be taken as quite humorous but I’d leave that out personally)

My love language is… Italian.
(This has nothing to do with being a single mum, it just drives me crazy when people misunderstand this question! A love language is not an actual language 🙄 Google it.)

So now that you know exactly what to expect from the Hinge app, what are you waiting for! Use these great Hinge profile examples to get your prompts filled in and your best photos lined up. You’re ready to date!
