Your tips on how to save money on days out over Easter.

Easter is next Sunday, the 9th of April.

The Easter Holidays are always a really fun time of year. We’ve all been cooped up over Winter! So as the sun finally peeps out of our traditionally gloomy British skies, it’s not surprising that the kids can’t wait to get out of the house. They’ll want to see some sights and things over the Easter Break.

There’s a lot going on. Local farms hosting lambing events, delighting the little ones with baby chicks, bunnies and more springtime joys. Soft play centres, heritage parks and garden centres are hosting Easter Egg Hunts, trails, and other fun stuff for children to enjoy.

Parents have less cash in their pockets for days out

The downside is, that for a lot of parents at the moment the cost-of-living crisis has made it harder to find the cash for trips and days out with the kids. Lots of venues have upped their prices! The petrol to get out and about is more expensive, and we’re all feeling a bit lighter in the pocket as rents and energy bills have soared.

The best way to save money on trips with kids is looking for free events happening in your local area. A quick Google search for ‘free Easter events’ or using a filter on an events page to show the cost-free options will show you your options

Free options are getting fewer and farther between

However, the economic issues that we talked about earlier aren’t just affecting families – businesses have suffered too.

As a result there are less and less free events available for struggling families as businesses try to claw in the funds to pay for their own high bills.

Therefore a good option is to invest in a pass that’s designed for families with young children to save money on days out. There are several options, but one of the best and most value for money is Kids Pass.

Investing in Kids Pass to save money on days out over Easter with kids

Some free activities you can do at home

  1. Obviously it’s much cheaper to do your own Easter egg hunt at home rather than paying to go out. But if you want to have a little more fun with it, take your egg hunt to the local park!
  2. Make some bunny ears – paper, scissors, glue and glitter!
  3. Start the day with an eggs-elent breakfast! Boiled eggs and soldiers will be a strong opener to your Easter themed day at home.
  4. Go for a walk and pick some springtime flowers.
  5. Make your own Easter Cards for friends and family.
  6. Baking! It really feels like Easter when you make those little chocolate nest cupcakes.
  7. Find some Easter activities online. Look for games, stories, or learning materials that explain the true meaning of Easter.
  8. Egg painting!

Wishing your family a very Happy Easter! Whatever you decide to do, enjoy the day and the time together.
