Money Mum Tips for a Financially Fit 2023

Although this New Year is bound to come with financial challenges for many of us, there are definitely things we can do to ease the struggle. Those who might be especially worried are single parents raising kids in a single income household. Therefore, Just-Us-Two.com wanted to collaborate with a good source of money tips for a mum who may be struggling.  


We Spoke to Money Mum, Gemma Bird, For Some Advice

Sometimes it might seem like a mountain that can’t be climbed, but these amazing tips from the extremely popular Money Mum are doing deigned to get you financially fit for 2023

Gemma Bird, who you may know as Money Mum is a hard-working mother of two from Essex, who’s also a Sunday Times Bestseller and Fabulous Mag columnist. She made her name by managing to pay off her £225K mortgage while never earning more than 25K a year. 

Now, she shares her knowledge to help others, through her @MoneyMumofficial Instagram page and her brilliant book Save Yourself Happy. 

She’s shared these 13 brilliant money-saving tips with all of us here at Just-Us-Two.com 

  1. Make a list of your outgoings
  2. Use a free budget app : Martin Lewis, Revolut , Plum, Monzo etc.
  3. Look at patterns. What are you wasting money on?
  4. Sell clothes or other items you no longer use on ebay or Vinted
  1. Start having regular No Spend Days – it helps you be creative in finding free things to do in your local area too!
  1. Buy a travel mug and take your own coffee to work / on days out
  1. Take a packed lunch / snacks for the kids with you – a good quality backpack for the children is a good investment so they can carry their own drinks and snacks
  1. Fill water bottles up for free at many coffee shops on days out
  1. Cook recipes that you can easily bulk up with veg, using less meat
  2. Use a scanner in your local supermarket, write a list and stick to it, check your cupboards before going shopping, so you don’t re-buy items you already have. Make sure store cupboard essentials get used & don’t go out of date.
  3. Swap your weekly coffee & cake with friends at your local café. Instead, take turns to host at your homes and save ££s
  4. When making purchases use a price comparison site like Price Runner to get the best deals
  5. Cancel subscriptions you don’t use
