For the last couple of years, woodland and jungle themed toddler bedrooms have done the rounds on Pinterest – but what’s new in the world of the toddler bedroom theme?

I’ve done the research and sourced 5 striking new kids bedroom trends for 2021!

Sourced from Pinterest, some favourite home retail sites and Children’s interior design blogs across the web – read on for some beautiful children’s decor inspiration!

Number one on the list, anything Mid-Century is a major interior design trend right now! Classic Mid-Century furniture pieces and vintage furnishings can create an incredibly stylish and eye-catching room. Colour is the key to making it more fun and kid-friendly. Classic pinks and blues or rich teals really suit the style, especially when contrasted with bronzed metallics or wood finishes.

This theme may sound pretty basic, but actually the modern spin on Monochrome is really fun and eye-catching. Strong black lines offset by pops of bold red or primary colours create a really contemporary and playful look.

Dinosaur/Adventurer Theme

Bring a little Jurassic Park to your kids bedroom and create the ultimate imaginarium with this fun theme! From a trend perspective, earthy browns and greens are super shoppable right now and lend themselves perfectly to a Dinosaur motif.

Achieve this look yourself with this brown spotty rug (pictured to the left) from H&M and accessorise with a dinosaur print bean bag like this one from Very.

Forget blue and white stripes and cliché anchors. Do the new nautical and make them the captain of their own ship on the stormy seas.

The key to this look is choosing the right shade of salty sea blue. Tie the theme together with wave peak whites, and a wood finish for the bed – the Captain’s ship.

Create a room that looks like it’s leapt straight out of the pages of a fairy-tale with this ultra fun theme. Pull inspiration from some decades-loved favourites like Alice in Wonderland, or get a little edgy with a Brothers Grimm or Tim Burton feel.

Make old new again and design a room that’s not only on top of the trend list but full of interesting patterns and textures for little hands to explore.

An absolute staple that fits across many of the themes is bunting! It’s a cute and fun accessory that fills the dead space toward the ceiling. This one from Alex&Alexa is a great choice. Find it here.
