This year will be my second Christmas with my Son, I can’t believe how time flies! Last year he was still so young that he wasn’t even sitting up, let alone participating in the festivities. We put a reindeer bib on him and lay him on a rug under the tree so he could look at the twinkling lights. That was about it as far as his enjoyment of the period! Now he’ll be nearly 17 months old when Christmas comes, and it’s a bit of a funny age for a seasonal holiday. How do you do Christmas for a toddler?? Too young to understand the concept of ‘Santa’, but old enough to destroy the tree and rip open the presents – eek!
So, how do you make Christmas age-appropriate for a 1-2 year old toddler?
A fun activity that a little one will love would be to make a simple Christmas Post Box! Even if the concept is a little lost on them, toddlers really enjoy the action of posting things through a slot. It’s easy to set up and they can even have a little go at ‘writing a letter’ to Father Christmas.
